Isaac’s Storm A Man, a Time, and the Deadliest Hurricane in History reviews

Isaac’s Storm: A Man, a Time,Isaac's Storm- A Man, a Time, and the Deadliest Hurricane in History and the Deadliest Hurricane in History by Erik Larson (Author). Nationwide Bestseller. September 8, 1900, started innocently within the seaside town of Galveston, Texas. Even Isaac Cline, resident meteorologist for the U.S. Weather Bureau failed to grasp the true meaning of the strange deep-sea swells and peculiar winds that greeted the town that morning. Mere hours later, Galveston discovered itself submerged in a monster hurricane that fully destroyed the town and killed over six thousand folks in what remains the best pure disaster in American history–and Isaac Cline discovered himself the sufferer of a devestating private tragedy.

Utilizing Cline’s own telegrams, letters, and experiences, the testimony of scores of survivors, and our latest understanding of the science of hurricanes, Erik Larson builds a chronicle of 1 man’s heroic struggle and deadly miscalculation within the face of a storm of unimaginable magnitude. Riveting, powerful, and unbearably suspenseful, Isaac’s Storm is the story of what can occur when human arrogance meets the great uncontrollable pressure of nature.

What an excellent story! This e book just raced along stuffed with facts and fascinating element about “a person, a time, and the deadliest hurricane in history.” I must admit that when this ebook was first launched in Australia I wasn’t overly interested. It did not sound like one thing that may interest me in the slightest.

How mistaken are you able to be, after picking the book up for the third or fourth time and actually taking the time to see what the story was about I had to learn it. The author, Erik Larson, presents a gripping and horrible account of the occasions leading up to the destruction on Galveston on the 8th of September 1900 by one of many deadliest hurricanes in America’s history. Alongside the way the Larson offers the details of man’s efforts to foretell and control the climate and the often-disastrous outcomes once we received it unsuitable!

The private accounts offered in this ebook are often very touching and the human drama really gets you involved in the story. The narrative strikes alongside like an action paced novel and you end up with in the early hours of the morning glued to the pages. I actually did not want to finish this story, it was an important account and the only fault I may find was an absence of photographs. On quite a few occasions Larson refers to previous black and white images that he had seen during his research for this book, it could have been better to share these along with his audience. Generally it is a great e book and well well worth the time to read.
