Marine Life of the Pacific Northwest: A Photographic Encyclopedia of Invertebrates, Seaweeds And Selected Fishes

Marine Life of the Pacific Northwest: A Photographic Encyclopedia of Invertebrates, Seaweeds And Selected Fishes by Andy Lamb (Author), Bernard Hanby (Author, Photographer). With 1,600 superb coloration pictures of over 1,200 species, MARINE LIFE OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST is probably the most comprehensive collection of photographs of Pacific Northwest marine life ever published. It is designed to permit the reader to recognize virtually any coastal organism that may be encountered from southern Alaska to southern Oregon-from sea lettuces and feather boa kelp to the leopard ribbon worm, Pacific purple octopus, spiny-thigh sea spider, and gutless awning clam.

Every species is identified with photographs and includes a description with data on vary, habitat, appearance, and behavior. Andy Lamb and Bernard Hanby have spent most of their lifetimes finding out and recording Pacific Northwest marine life and have accomplished over four,000 scuba dives between them. Among the species included on this quantity have never earlier than been featured in print. Color coded for quick reference and together with a glossary and full index, MARINE LIFE OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST is a must-have for severe biologists, scuba divers, beachcombers, or anyone concerned about marine life and delightful underwater photography.

This e book is likely one of the most superb publishing accomplishments I've seen. The authors and their associates have gathered 1700 excellent photographs of marine life, especially the tiny and obscure invertebrates that almost no one has even seen or suspected, not to mention photographed. (The place else are you going to seek out pictures of neon sea-fleas and parasitic copepods in the wild?) Many of the animals herein will not be even described scientifically. I studied fisheries development for years and thought I knew something about marine life, however I never knew there have been so many worms and snails and tunicates on the market, let alone did I ever see them or photographs of them. Everyone focused on nature or biology ought to have this book, or at the least look at it, just to see what wonderful things there are within the world. It is of curiosity far past the narrow confines of Northwest Coast shores.

This guide is fantastic! I only recently obtained certified and am diving alot! This books helps me to identify all the fantastic creatures I am encountering within the waters of the Pacific Northwest! The images are superb and with detailed descriptions its not hard to figure out where to look for interesting underwater animals! I use this guide weekly to help me make notes in my dive log after every dive. I highly recommend this ebook if you are a diver! I really just Identified a Pacific Spiney Lumpsucker on my dive today, using this book! My Dive buddy and I noticed two throughout our dive, apparently quite a uncommon treat from what I've heard! I whole heartedly want to thank the authors and photographers who took the time to publish this e book!

If you are on the lookout for a reference e book for figuring out inter and sub-tidal life in the Pacific Northwest, this is the book for you. Fantastically illustrated and comprehensive, it permits the reader to discover a world directly easily accessible and on the similar time filled with mystery. The pictures is outstanding, making identification of marine organisms simpler and more accurate. When mixed with further study and instruction, it provides a glimpse into a fancy and fascinating world seldom explored.
