Christopher Marley's graceful arrangements of jewel-like arthropods make converts of those that have seen insects as creepy--these are gorgeous artistic endeavors, his delicate butterfly assemblages sublime. Marley's keen eye for design combines together with his entomological training to supply mesmerizing, kaleidoscopic bug mandalas and placing up-shut-and-personal single-insect portraits. The iridescent colours of beetle shells and moth wings are his pigments in a seemingly endless sensible palette. The pictures of these preparations current the bugs in their pure state: he doesn't digitally enhance any of the images. Each beautiful creation is identified with its scientific and common names, and plenty of are accompanied by concise descriptive text. Each image is actually a feast for the eyes. Pure nature has by no means been captured in such a charming and impressed means, clearly the attention of a real artist. The creator's attention-grabbing biography is also recounted, revealing his unimaginable, albeit somewhat strange, transition from a phobic, to a lover of bugs and their uncultivated and distinct beauty.
Altogether "Pheromone" is a great read, a beautiful conversational peice for around the home, and simply merely fantastic to look at.
Christopher Marley is a genius! His books and art work are just spectacular! He takes colorful, exotic insects and turns them into nearly mosaic patterns. They're beautiful.
I purchased this guide for a pal that had just bought certainly one of Marley's framed moths and he loved it.
