National Geographic Field Guide to the Birds of North America Sixth Edition

National Geographic Field Guide to the Birds of North America, Sixth Edition by Jon L. Dunn (Author), Jonathan Alderfer (Author). National Geographic Discipline Information to the Birds of North America, 6th Edition incorporates probably the most all-new materials because the first edition was revealed more than 25 years ago. The latest version will include 300 new artwork figures; distinctive subspecies maps never before seen in an area information; extensive migration data overlaid on species maps; area-mark labels on all artwork; textual content updates to include new species; reorganization reflecting taxonomic modifications in the chic neighborhood; organization, readability, and elevated web page rely with a contemporary new design.

I like this field guide. It has good drawings and very good range maps. I also own Sibley’s guide and have owned others. Sibleys information is also good, but would not function as many species. My absolute favorite field information is the “Nationwide Geographic Complete Birds of North America” it’s also available at amazon and it covers the birds within the Nationwide Geographic Field Guide in more detail.

The national geographic discipline guide is large in comparison with others. It is smaller and lighter than my Sibley guide. I don’t thoughts the size of the books as a result of I learn them at the residence and just take notes in the field.

I really like this subject guide.

This new edition has quite a lot of very good (and new) features. There are of course the birds which were added, but I particularly like the part on subspecies close to the tip of the book. I also think it is a good thing that the accidental and extinct species have now been separated out from the usually occurring species and placed in their own separate section.

Very good reference with further text on shore birds with actual photos not drawings. I would not use the book in the area as much as it’s a bit big but general excellent source.
