I do not understand how the Stokes’ do all that they do but this latest guide from them is the most complete of all. The images are excellent displaying plumage variations from different areas, seasonal variations, and the juveniles. A bonus CD comes with the ebook of the calls and songs of one hundred fifty widespread birds. It is a huge subject guide at nearly 800 pages however it is a crucial addition to any birder’s library.

Acquired this book and was mesmerized. Wonderful images and descriptions. Being a chook nerd, I found that the guide is just too massive and heavy (virtually three pounds)for carrying in the field. I will keep it in my car for a superb reference source.
